Ministries

There are many ways to become involved with our church family, including Small Groups, Book Club, and offering your musical talents during our services.

Prince of Peace is also proud to be a part of our local community, by offering our building to groups like the Boy Scouts. If your group is interested in meeting at our church, please contact us.

Benevolences

Prince of Peace believes in tithing. That means we give 10% of the offering we receive away to other agencies that are doing God’s work.

Here are the organizations that we currently support financially:

ELCA
Caritas Outreach Ministries
Lutheran Community Services Northwest
Lutheran World Relief
Lutherhaven Ministries
Habitat for Humanity Spokane
Greater Spokane Lutheran Campus Ministry
SxNW Spokane Young Life

Caritas

Caritas Outreach Ministries: for 20 years, a collaborative effort of fourteen Northwest Spokane Churches demonstrating Christ’s love by assisting those in need in our part of town. Services, including a food bank and assistance with energy and utility bills, are provided confidentially, on an as needed basis.

On the 2nd Sunday of each month we gather food supplies to help stock the Caritas food pantry. Check out this month’s newsletter for a list of current needs.

Caritas Little Food Pantry

Good News! Prince of Peace is a sponsor for a Little Food Pantry. The pantry is located just outside the office door. Caritas will fill the pantry once a week, but we can supplement the contents or fill any time it is looking empty.

Confirmation

The Goal for our Confirmation Ministry:

  • To assist these Confirmands in developing closer relationships with other young people and adults in the congregation
  • To assist our young people in developing a living, mature relationship to our Lord Jesus Christ
  • To assist our young people in gaining specific knowledge and information about the Christian faith and the Lutheran Church
  • To encourage these Confirmands to use scripture, prayer, and worship in their lives
  • To provide them with opportunities to explore their feelings and gain some self-understanding
  • To provide them with specific skills in sharing their faith at home and school as well as in their community

Charity Quilters gather to make quilts that go to Lutheran World ReliefTransitional Living Center Group and Caritas Outreach Ministries as well as students from Prince of Peace who are graduating from high school and families in need at Christmas time. This group meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 9 a.m.
