This committee oversees all of the fellowship activities within the congregation.
  • Organizing hosts for the Sunday morning coffee hour

  • Helping serve for funeral receptions
  • Organizing Shrove Tuesday, Lenten soup suppers, Bloomsday dinner, Oktoberfest, Christmas Blast
This committee oversees the Christian Education opportunities for the congregation.
  • Overseeing Sunday School and recruiting teachers and teacher assistants
  • Serving as Sunday School Superintendent
  • Overseeing Vacation Bible School, finding teachers and helpers
  • Organizing the Children's Christmas program
  • Coordinating Adult Education opportunities
  • Planning for Confirmation
  • Providing educational opportunities for Senior High Youth
  • Working to develop midweek education activities
This committee seeks opportunities to extend the invitation to worship to visitors, inactive members, and residents throughout the community.
  • Planning the new member receptions, potlucks and desserts
  • Providing publicity for church events through mailings, the newspaper and radio/television announcements
  • Following up on visitors with calls and personal visits
  • Developing a Welcome Packet for new members
  • Helping to integrate new members into the life of the congregation
  • Organize and coordinate the church directory
This committee oversees the worship life of Prince of Peace examining the meaningfulness of those who worship. Other duties include pulpit supplies, special music, concerns for music activities and standards for church artwork.
  • Scheduling worship assistants; ushers, readers, and communion assistants
  • Organizing flowers for the worship area and preparing the church for liturgical seasons
  • Arranging for baptismal supplies
  • Arranging for the altar guild supplies and set-up
  • Organizing children's church materials
  • Reviewing and maintaining the worship books
  • Organizing the concerts in the park series
  • Singing and/or playing an instrument in our Praise Team and/or Choir
This committee oversees the building and its facilities to see that they are maintained and improved as needed.
  • Organizing the lawn care
  • Overseeing the care of the landscape
  • Organizing volunteers for sidewalk snow removal
  • Establishing maintenance of building and property
  • Putting up signs for special events
  • Organizing church clean-up days
This committee organizes the extension of assistance to community, national and international agencies in the form of money, clothing, food, or volunteers. Prince of Peace also offers assistance to members experiencing difficulties.
  • Planning for the four weeks each year that Prince of Peace hosts the Interfaith Hospitality Network families
  • Organizing participation in Crop Walk
  • Identifying families and distributing gifts for the Christmas Tree of Sharing
  • Working with Lutheran World Relief
  • Developing awareness for benevolence projects
  • Participates in the CASA "My Bag" program
This committee addresses the education of the congregation regarding the gifts of time, talents, and money.

The women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) group coordinates Bible studies, educational opportunities, social activities, and outreach programs.
  • Organizing, publicizing, contributing to and working the Annual Fall Bazaar
  • Coordinating morning Bible studies
  • Making quilts, in morning quilting groups, for those who need them
  • Sponsor of Women's Morning Together
  • Sponsor of Annual Spring Luncheon
  • Sponsor of Annual Mother/Child event
  • Bake cakes for Excelsior residents' birthdays
This committee addresses concerns of the Lutheran Youth Organization (LYO) and ensures that planned events are a balance of Christian education and social activities.
